My Hong Kong Marathon 2018 Experience Posted on January 22, 2018
Picture 1 – My timing, plus twenty min to total time taken
The reason I have been going to Hong Kong Marathon, from the past till now, is for our runners to run and experience the race here. To add value, I found that it is a good idea to run in the race itself, this year.
I was there at start of the race at 5 30am and my race was to kick off at 6 35am.

As I just wanted to run and finish the race and get my own time, I decided to run earlier at 6 15am with the Run Challenge athletes.
The elite start, especially for those representing Hong Kong and foreign countries started earlier, about five min away from my race.

I realised that I had to walk for 3-4min before the start. As I crossed the start line, I ran slowly, at first. My last minute decision was to wear a training shoe which was quite heavy. It was Nike Shield Pegasus 34.
As I got injured a month to Stanchart Marathon 2017 race, I had to slowly come back by getting physically conditioned, after six weeks of no training. With about 3 1/2 weeks left, I had to train for the Hong Kong Marathon.
I will be writing in detail in the next blog post of the time I did in 4hr 13min at the finish (minus 4-5min). This detail will be a sharing of my experience of the race on what to look out for in a race in Hong Kong Marathon 2017.
