Mr Lim Jit Imm – The Two Important Messages I learnt Posted on January 11, 2018

Mr Lim Jit Imm was a national sprinter of Singapore in the past. He did a project with Singapore Athletes to go to Kuala Lumpur to compete in Asian Track and Field Championships.
During the championships, I have learnt two things and they are important lessons for me and it help me in breaking the national record five times.
Mr Lim told me that besides acute injury, repetitive injury is not overnight. That means, an injury is a slow accumulation and not happening all of a sudden. For example, if one does not stretch, they will get injury, not now, but over time. So any action we do, it may have debilitating effects later on for our present moment mistakes. With this knowledge, I stayed away from injury heeding to the advice. This allowed me to keep breaking the national record until I reached 2hr 24min 22sec.
The next thing I learned from him was to be mentally prepared. Mr Lim Jit Imm told me that irregardless whether the ground is wet or dry, one must be mentally prepared.
All my personal best timings improved from 1.5km to the marathon. This is what people say, “If you learn from a knowledgeable person, it is better than reading 1000 books.” My three days trip to Kuala Lumpur was definitely worth it!
