Stories that have inspired me during my running days.

Note: There is some variations to this story but the inner truth is that sometimes we fail to realise that everything happens for the good. Good is between two bad incidents and bad is between two good incidents. This story illustrates on how everything will finally end in goodness.

There was once a King who was righteous. Under his rule, the kingdom prospered immensely. He had a wise advisor. The advisor accompanied the King everywhere he goes. It so happened that the advisor had a favorite advice to everyone, “Everything happens for the good”.

On a particular day, the King went to the jungle to spent his time on hunting. However, he had an accident where he mistakenly shot an arrow to his own foot and was injured. He reflected and contemplated on the incident and asked the advisor on the accident. Instantly, without any form of hesitation, the advisor replied, “Everything happens for the good”.

Hearing this, the King was really upset and ordered the advisor to be put in dungeon. The King asked his advisor, “Now, what do you think about your plight?” To this, the advisor again replied confidently, with a smile on his face, that, “Everything happens for the good”. The King got angry with the answer and was convinced to keep the advisor in the dungeon until the latter repents his statement.

Over a period of time, the King, one day, decided to go for a hunting trip. The King was not aware that there were cannibals at the place that he was hunting. He was captured by the cannibals, who brought him to their chief.

At the cannibals’ camp, the cannibals were preparing for an evening meal. Before putting him into the cooking pot, he was thoroughly inspected. The cannibals saw the wound on the King’s foot and proclaimed him as unfit to be eaten as the cannibals thought that they would not eat anything that was imperfect.

The chief of the cannibals ordered the King to be released. The King finally reached his kingdom and was repentant of his actions to his advisor. Immediately, he ordered the advisor to be released and apologised for the wrong decisions made by putting the advisor in the dungeon.

The King, then, realized that what his advisor said was all true. However, he was thinking on the uncomfortable and miserable days spent by the advisor in the dungeon and said, ” How can you have goodness when you have been in dungeon for a period time?”. The King was puzzled with this.

To this the advisor said, “Your Highness! If I had gone with you, the cannibals would have cooked me as a meal for I have no wound at all” Hence, the advisor also escaped death because if he had not been in prison, he would have accompanied the King on the hunting trip, and would have ended up in the cooking pot.

Success Principles

Success is between two failures. We go through many failures before achieving great success. At the same time, patience is needed to succeed and if we do not have this we may give up easily. The important thing to do is to have persistence and determination and everything will end in success and goodness. Goals will be achieved. Failures will teach us valuable lessons which will enable us to be successful in life and be a better person in life.
